Urban Quarter has officially broken ground on the highly anticipated Central Precinct at East of the Beach in Eglinton, marking a significant milestone for the growing coastal community.
A sod turning ceremony was held on-site to celebrate the start of construction, attended by key stakeholders and community leaders including City of Wanneroo Mayor Linda Aitken, North Ward Councillor Sonet Coetzee, and Principal of Northshore Christian Grammar School, Stuart Chisholm.
Located off Scotthorn Drive, the Central Precinct will deliver 533 new homesites, helping to meet the strong demand for housing in Perth’s northern corridor.
The precinct will expand on the success of East of the Beach, which is already home to over 460 families.
Whadjuk Noongar Elder Terry Morich opened the event with a traditional Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony, followed by speeches from Urban Quarter General Manager Stuart Reside, Mayor Linda Aitken and Stuart Chisholm.
“East of the Beach has already become home to hundreds of families, and the Central Precinct will bring even more people into this thriving community,” said Urban Quarter General Manager Stuart Reside. “With 533 new homesites coming, we’re helping address much-needed housing supply in the northern suburbs.”.
“This new precinct will build on the success of East of the Beach and continue to grow this vibrant, connected coastal community,” he added.
The new precinct will also coincide with the construction of secondary school playing fields at Northshore Christian Grammar School, with Stage 1 set to launch in the coming months. A variety of lot sizes will be available, ranging from 182sqm to 626sqm – ideal for a wide range of homebuyers.

The event wrapped up with the ceremonial turning of the sod and group photos, bringing together community leaders, project partners, and the Urban Quarter team members to mark the beginning of this exciting next chapter.
